The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has been honoured by the School of Science and Technology in recognition of her outstanding leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to institutional development.

The award was presented during a courtesy visit to the Rector by the Dean of the School, Dr. Ugonwa Okeke, who led a delegation comprising Heads of Departments and Chief Lecturers. "We are here to appreciate your impact, especially in the revival of key facilities like the printing press, the widespread availability of Poly water, and the production of Poly bread across the campus. These are visible indicators of purposeful leadership," Dr. Okeke stated.

In the course of the visit, the delegation appealed to the management for additional support, including the provision of window blinds for some offices, allocation of more office spaces, as well as essential stationeries and equipment. The Dean further highlighted the need for more functional laboratories and the installation of machines in the Chemistry laboratory, noting that these improvements would significantly enhance the school’s internally generated revenue.

In her response, Dr. Awuzie expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to inclusive development across all academic units.

"I am deeply encouraged by this recognition and your show of solidarity. I assure you that the 2026 TETFund intervention will address the laboratory needs of the school. Other requests will be considered and handled in phases," the Rector assured.
