Ihiala Indigenes in Federal Polytechnic Oko Pledge Unwavering Support to Rector Awuzie

The Ihiala Local Government Area (LGA) indigenes working in Federal Polytechnic Oko have declared their full support for the institution’s Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, during a courtesy visit to her office on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

Led by their chairman, Mr. Ugochukwu Onuigbo, the group congratulated Dr. Awuzie on her appointment as substantive Rector and assured her of their loyalty throughout her tenure.

“We are praying for you and standing solidly behind you, come rain or shine. We will always be available to take on any assignment you give us, and we will never sabotage your administration,” Mr. Onuigbo pledged.

Describing Dr. Awuzie as “a great achiever,” he commended her leadership style and applauded the infrastructural and administrative changes she has implemented in just a few months. He specifically lauded projects such as the Polytechnic’s printing press—capable of producing high-quality answer scripts—and the staff sports club, which provides recreational opportunities for employees.

In her response, Dr. Awuzie expressed gratitude for the show of solidarity, noting that as one of their own, she expects their maximum cooperation to achieve her vision for the institution. She also called on those who had opposed her emergence as Rector to put aside past differences and join hands with her to move the Polytechnic forward.

“I have forgiven and put the past behind me. I will not witch-hunt anyone, but I will ensure that everyone due for anything gets it,” she assured.

The visit was attended by top management staff of the Polytechnic, including the Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr. Kenneth Ezekwe; Deputy Rector (Academic), Dr. Nkiruka Akabuike; Bursar, Mr. Stephen Udu; and Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Nwabu Ezemba.
