AWKA – The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, PhD, has issued a stern warning to social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over actions and statements deemed potentially capable of inciting unrest or disturbing public peace in the state.
The warning comes in the wake of viral online posts and discussions related to the recent death of Mr. Ifesinachi Onyekere, Managing Director of Fish Magnet outlet. The Police Command emphasized that the deceased’s family has formally distanced themselves from any candlelight procession or public memorial gathering being planned in his name, urging the public to respect their wish to mourn privately and allow investigations to proceed unhindered.
CP Orutugu reiterated that Anambra remains one of the most peaceful states in the region, a status sustained through the collaborative efforts of the Police, other security agencies, and local stakeholders. He made it clear that no individual—regardless of social standing or online influence—would be allowed to destabilize the state’s hard-earned peace and security.
The Commissioner also called on residents, visitors, and online influencers to conduct themselves responsibly, avoid spreading misinformation, and refrain from making inflammatory remarks that could lead to tension or panic.
“Anyone found inciting unrest, whether on social media or through physical actions, will be held accountable and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” CP Orutugu warned.
The Command assured the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.
